Description

Smartia is looking for a Data Scientist to join our Applications team in a client facing role.
Manufacturing drives the economy on a global scale. However, today, manufacturers are facing
challenges owing to the lack of digitisation on the factory floor and the inefficiencies in their ageing
processes.

To reignite innovation in manufacturing and propel companies into the 4th Industrial Revolution,
Smartia is building a revolutionary AI and IoT platform - MAIO - to help manufacturers digitise and
monitor their assets (i.e. machines and processes).

In particular, the Applications team works directly with leading manufacturers to generate insights
and identify opportunities for process innovation. Additionally, being client facing in nature, this
team is also the voice of ourcustomers. Hence, it is responsible for driving product innovation and
development around MAIO as well.

As a Data Scientist in the Applications team, you will be working directly with our clients to
understand the business problem and ultimately, deliver data-driven insights using techniques in
data science and machine learning. Furthermore, you’ll be working in collaborative and cross-functional
project teams, and contributing towards overall delivery while upholding the highest standards of
quality.

At Smartia, we value innovation, ownership and the will to make a difference. Furthermore, we are looking
for someone with critical thinking skills and the ability to solve challenging data science problems in
a structured manner.

The role will be based in Bristol but will require travel to client locations in the UK occasionally. You’ll
be reporting to the Head of Applications, and also closely partner with our product innovation and
development teams.

Responsibilities and Duties

- Assist the project manager in liaising with business stakeholders to refine the analysis

- Deliver production quality code and propagate best practices among team members

- Use experience from client projects to drive product innovation for MAIO (our AI and IoT platform for manufacturers)

- Demonstrate willingness to innovate by driving new initiatives and improving project efficiency

Qualifications and Skills

- MSc or PhD in Computer Science, Mathematics, Operational Research, Statistics, Economics, or another quantitative field

- 1- 3 years of experience across data science, data engineering and advanced analytics, ideally in the industrial domain

- Strong understanding of concepts and challenges in Statistical Analysis, Machine Learning and Deep Learning

- Advanced coding skills in Python

          - Data Science: pandas, numpy, scipy, sklearn, tensorflow, keras, pytorch, jupyter

          - Data Visualisation: matplotlib, plotly, seaborn, bokeh
